What makes Puratan Leathers products unique?
All our bags, accessories, and journals are individually handcrafted by skilled artisans in Jaipur, India. We combine traditional leather-crafting techniques with natural materials to create unique, high-quality, and durable goods. Because they are handmade, no two items are exactly identical, giving your product a personal, rustic charm.
What is special about the paper inside your leather journals?
Our paper is 100% tree-free and eco-friendly, made entirely from recycled cotton rags. It is handcrafted using a traditional recipe that replicates 15th-century techniques. The paper is thick, luxurious, lightly textured, features organic deckle (rough) edges, and is fountain-pen friendly (resists bleeding or ghosting).
Are the scars and markings on the leather considered defects?
No. We use genuine, premium leathers (such as full-grain, top-grain, and crazy horse leathers). Natural variations in color, wrinkles, scarring, and hide marks are authentic characteristics of genuine leather and prove its high quality. These characteristics are part of the rustic, vintage look of our products.
What is Crazy Horse Leather, and why does it scratch easily?
Crazy Horse leather is made by applying a special type of natural wax to a full-grain hide surface. The wax enhances the fibers of the leather, meaning when they are rubbed or scratched, the leather’s natural color changes shade, giving it a beautiful antique look.
How to remove scratches: You can easily rub the surface with your fingers or a soft cloth; the warmth and natural oils from your skin will redistribute the wax and fade the scratch.
How should I care for my genuine leather bag?
- Keep Dry: Avoid exposing your leather items to heavy rain or water. If it gets wet, let it dry naturally in a shaded area.
- Conditioning: We recommend applying a high-quality leather conditioner or cream every 6 to 12 months using a clean, soft cloth. This keeps the leather supple.
- Storage: Store your leather bags in a cool, dry place inside a breathable dust bag (included). Do not store them in plastic bags.
Do you offer personalization or custom embossing?
Yes. We offer custom initials, names, and corporate logos embossed directly onto the leather. This makes our journals and bags perfect for personal gifts, corporate events, and branded merchandise. Please contact sales@puratanleathers.com for custom branding rates.
Do you accept custom sizes or bespoke designs?

- Delivery Timelines: Express shipping typically takes 5 to 9 business days after dispatch.
